Make your own Moon Milk

Moon Milk, a 2018 trend that took over Instagram, is derived from Ayuverdic traditions, but basically using the age old tip of having warm milk along with spices and herbs before bed to help us sleep (converting the tryptophan from the milk to the sleepy hormone melatonin). So if you feel like giving it a go to help you wind down and sleep, we asked Nutritionist Grace Carey-Caton to give us a recipe for this good stuff.

If you’re looking for a nightcap to help you aid your sleep, then look no further than an ashwagandha latte! The ultimate comforting bedtime drink which provides sleep inducing compounds
Ashwagandha is an adaptogenic, Ayurvedic herb which has mild sedative effects and has been used for centuries to reduce the effects of stress, anxiety and low energy. Recent studies have shown that that ashwagandha can play a role in insomnia and regulating the sleep cycle (1) (2)
Try this recipe each night around an hour before bed to aid a deep & restful sleep for you!
1 tsp ashwagandha powder
1 cup milk of your choice
½ tsp cinnamon
1 tsp coconut oil
Add all of the ingredients to the hob and simmer at a low-medium heat for 5 minutes.
